FREE IF YOU BRING A TOY - Toy Story 3
No toy gets left behind.
When looking back on your childhood most people remember three things: The Lion King, Pokemon and Toy Story. 15 years since Woody and friends first burst on to our screens the boys are back in town for one final curtain call.
Its predecessors live eternally in our hearts as two of the greatest movies of our childhood and will continue to be cherished for generations. So the question has to be asked, how could Lee Unkrich possibly pull off a third and final classic? 15 years on and we have all grown up, as has Woody’s beloved owner Andy, who is now 17 and getting ready for college. Coupled with Woody’s ever-growing fear of abandonment that a recurrent theme set up in Toy Story 1 and 2, we have the plot foundations of our final instalment.
Packing for college, Andy decides to take Woody and store the rest of the toys in the loft. However a misunderstanding on the part of his mum leads to her throwing the bag of toys in the rubbish. In an attempt to escape, the toys end up in Sunnyside Daycare. Here they become part of a regime, controlled by Lotso the bear, a giant baby doll and Ken, Barbie’s self-obsessed boyfriend.
This instant classic is currently the top grossing film of 2010 and is fifth highest grossing film ever. Unlock the memories of your childhood and join Woody and co. on their final adventure. The hanging sense of mortality gives this film an emotional edge like no other, as we see the heroes of our childhood on the brink of extinction, but as Pixar draws the curtain on this beautiful franchise we are reminded of our own seemingly distant childhoods.
That’s right, they’re back! After a long wait, Woody (Hanks), Buzz (Allen) and the rest of the toys that we have come to love have finally returned and are up to some more crazy antics in the newest instalment from the wonderful collaboration of Disney and Pixar. An all-star cast lend their voices to the loveable toy box, and there are even some new characters in the mix, including a smooth-talking Ken doll (Keaton) and a Lots-o-Huggin’ Bear.
Andy is all grown up and off to college. Woody and the gang are accidentally thrown away in the rush of packing up, and find themselves in Sunnyside Daycare at the mercy of the terrible tots. The toys try to settle in but Woody’s etching in his foot tells him that that something isn’t right; they belong to someone else. Andy wants them back and the toys have to work together to get back home. Unfortunately, it doesn’t help that they have somehow set poor Buzz into Spanish mode…
Some are calling it one of the best trilogies of all time. Come what may, you’ve got a friend in this film.
