Review:

Following the successes of ‘The Da Vinci Code’ and ‘Angels and Demons’, ‘Inferno’ sees the world’s most heroic academic since Indiana Jones try to save the world. Again. Professor Robert Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia having been involved in what he is told is a near fatal shooting. When individuals are sent to murder him he has to team up with the mysterious Dr. Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones) to try and stop a despotic billionaire from launching a lethal plot to destroy the world in order to save it from overpopulation. Inferno is a decent film which is fast-paced and full of action. Though the plot is a little far-fetched and it doesn’t have the same degree of detective style tracking which was so wonderful to see in The Da Vinci Code especially it is nonetheless a highly enjoyable film with no shortage of amazing scenes and a fair few notable twists and turns along the way. Though those who have read the book might well be tearing their hair out at the end of the final scene, it is, despite this little blip, faithful to the books and is an entertaining thriller which poses interesting questions about how we as humans treat our planet and makes you wonder whether the antagonists actually have a point. A really enjoyable evening’s entertainment.
