All the Money in the World

From the legendary director Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Gladiator) comes All the Money in the World.

Oil tycoon and richest man in the world J. Paul Getty’s sixteen-year-old grandson Paul is travelling in Italy when he is kidnapped by the mafia. However, when the notoriously frugal billionaire outright refuses to pay the ransom, Paul’s mother Gail (Michelle Williams) is forced to go to extraordinary lengths to get her son back before it’s too late.

While Kevin Spacey initially portrayed J. Paul Getty, when allegations of sexual misconduct were made against him just weeks before the film was due to premier, Scott decided to replace him with Christopher Plummer and reshoot all of his scenes. While this threatened to overshadow the film, Plummer is so perfect in his role as Getty, a truly fascinating character, that Spacey is easily forgotten — it’s not hard to see why Plummer was apparently Scott’s preferred actor in the first place. Michelle Williams also puts in a fantastic performance as Gail, a woman thrown into the deep end and forced to deal with the pressures of facing both increasingly restless captors as well as a cold and often hostile father-in-law.

A gripping true story featuring some outstanding performances, All the Money in the World is a great film that is well worth your time.
