Review:

A prequel to all the previous films in the Transformers franchise, this latest instalment tells the origin story of autobot B-127 (nicknamed 'Bumblebee' due to his colour).

Battle-damaged and beaten, Bumblebee is seeking refuge in the forest, when he is found by a young outcast, Charlie, who works as a mechanic in order to buy her first car. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld – True Grit) does what she can to repair him, though his voice box is irreparably damaged. The only way he can communicate is via 1980’s music, and so, the two strike up an unlikely friendship…

However, the decepticons are in hot pursuit! They’d managed to convince the government that Bumblebee is an escaped criminal from their planet, and so the whole combined military might and intelligence of the US are trying to gun down our titular hero!

This film has a certain quirky charm to it, as well as all the usual action and out-of-this-world effects that you expect from a Transformers film. With explosions galore, this is a great popcorn flick to watch and give your brain a rest before lectures tomorrow…
