Review:

Winner of the Golden Globes for both Best Actor and Best Picture, Bohemian Rhapsody is the terrific tale of Queen brought to life on the big screen.

Unsurprisingly and rather understandably, the film’s focus is on the ultimate star of the show, Freddie Mercury, as it traces his journey from Heathrow baggage handler to rock legend, and all the highs and lows in between. Rami Malek (Mr. Robot) is outstanding in his leading role and really does justice to Mercury in his performance, capturing his truly unique and flamboyant personality.

While critics’ reviews for Bohemian Rhapsody have been mixed, rather fittingly like its namesake when it was released as a single in 1975 (as depicted in the film), audiences have loved it, and it’s not hard to see why. The film is great fun, tells a superb story with captivating characters, and is packed full of classic Queen hits throughout – what’s not to love! The film occasionally plays a little hard and fast with the precise ins-and-outs of history, but this is very forgivable as it sticks to the spirit of the story and its subjects.

All in all, Bohemian Rhapsody is a hugely enjoyable film that is well worth watching!
