Review:

After learning to control her powers in the first Frozen film, Elsa is enjoying her life, ruling the kingdom she cares for and spending time with those she loves. Increasingly though, Elsa hears a mysterious voice calling to her, one only she can hear. She wants to help them (as she senses that they are good), but how can she risk another adventure when everything’s perfect as it is? However, once the earth starts trembling, and all fire and water disappear from Arendelle, she knows that she has no choice but to follow the voice into the unknown to save her people…

Frozen 2 is just as stunning visually as the first, and all of the original cast return. The film experiments with a slightly darker tone - the characters are all a little older, and Elsa especially, has realised how much she has to lose, and is afraid to do anything that might jeopardise those she loves. Themes such as grief, environmentalism, colonialism and fear of uncertainty are touched upon, adding layers of complexity to the expanded world of magic and history of Arendelle.
