“It is now clear that we face a deepening global climate crisis that requires us to act boldly, quickly, and wisely.” These are the chilling words uttered by Al Gore in his campaign to make the issue of global warming a recognised problem worldwide.

An Inconvenient Truth combines the theory of global warming with Mr Gore’s own history and enduring dedication to reversing the effects of global climate change. A long-time campaigner for the environment, Gore presents a large range of facts and information in an attentive and convincing way. Director, Davis Guggenheim, says, “Al Gore strips his presentations of politics, laying out the facts for the audience to draw their own conclusions in a charming, funny and engaging style, and by the end has everyone on the edge of their seats, gripped by his haunting message.”

This documentary is not a story of hopelessness but rather a rallying cry to look after the earth that our future generations will inherit. The question remains, however – will it really work? They key lies primarily in education. The more and more people that are exposed to this kind of message, the more they will hopefully become mobilised and endorse the cause. One thing, though, is for sure – we should start getting worried.
