Review:

Some of the best movies ever made have Nazis as bad guys: when a Nazi dies who cares? Well, what happens when they don’t die? The simple answer is an awesome B-movie plot.

The film starts with shady businessman Hunt assembling a crack team of mercenaries to protect an abandoned bunker in a remote, unspecified area of Eastern Europe. The band of battle-hardened mercs is led by ex-marine “DC” (Ray Stevenson). They are under the impression that they’re in search of lost Nazi gold. However, it’s not long before they realise that the bunker is anything but abandoned and uncover a hideous series of experiments devised by Hitler’s best scientists.

The outpost is home to a top secret machine that can not only transport soldiers across vast distances but also make them invulnerable, thanks to some very imaginative physics. Of course it is not long before the machine is reactivated and Nazi zombies attack. What follows is a brilliant siege movie, similar to another outstanding British horror film, Dog Soldiers.

Stevenson does an excellent job of pulling off this rather stereotypical role and the acting of all the military men is pretty decent. Furthermore there’s a smattering of stars from Batman Begins, including Richard Brake who portrayed Joe Chill (the guy who shot Bruce Wayne’s parents). Plus, we have Mark Smith, a.k.a. Rhino from the 1990’s TV series Gladiators, who was also a League of Shadows warrior in Batman. With this top notch cast the audience get a real feel of how stressful being in a small enclosure surrounded by Nazi zombies actually is.

This low budget, gore filled horror movie is full to the brim with suspense. There are obviously some plot holes but if you enjoy leaving your brain at home and having some pure-adrenaline filled fun, then this is the movie for you!
