What Happens in Vegas
Get Lucky.
What Happens in Vegas is the ultimate goofball story of two entirely different people, thrown together by one too many tequilas and a drunken Vegas marriage, who subsequently fall for each other despite their initial loathing.
It tells the story of Jack (Kutcher) sacked by his own father, and Joy (Diaz) humiliatingly dumped by her self-obsessed boyfriend. These two losers go to the one place on earth where they can forget their problems and let their hair down – Las Vegas! Here they meet, both bummed out and looking for a good time, though what they don’t expect however is a cocktail-soaked marriage at the wedding chapel and a surprise win on the slot machines.
Nursing their hangovers, the pair return to New York, demanding a divorce and ready to fight tooth and nail to claim their winnings; however the judge sentences them to six months of ‘hard marriage’ in his efforts to save romance in this materialistic world. This results in a hilarious battle of the sexes where every trick in the book is used to gain the upper hand, but ultimately (and a little predictably) all ends well.
What Happens in Vegas does just what it says on the tin, it makes you laugh and it has a happy ending, so if mindlessly enjoyable entertainment is your thing, this film is a must see. For the ladies, Ashton is another plus-side to this movie as he is on undeniably cute and goofy form doing what he does best, playing the slightly stupid yet loveable hot guy, with not a hint of irony.
For the romantics among you, the plotline will be just what you want whilst for the comics, there is just the right amount of wit, toilet humour and sarcasm. And for the film critics among you, this film will deliver a truly enjoyable ride, where you will root for both parties and will definitely leave with a smile on your face, and if anything it just makes a trip to Vegas look really, really fun!
