Zack and Miri Make a Porno
Zack and Miri have been friends since childhood, so when they are threatened with eviction from their apartment, they unite to desperately seek a way out of their situation. All seems lost however, until a chance encounter with high school friend Brandon St. Randy (Justin Long) inspires them with a novel way of raising some cash…by shooting a porn film. However, when it comes to actually making the video, Zack and Miri start to question whether their friendship isn't hiding deeper feelings...
As both the title and the presence of Seth Rogen would suggest, this film is not one you would take your grandmother to see. Whilst “Zack and Miri…” sees Rogen depart from Judd Apatow, the director of his former films, “Knocked Up” and “Superbad”, Apatow's now-trademark blend of crude and sweet remains, with a warm heart residing under the somewhat sleazy surface of the film.>p
The film benefits largely from the strong supporting cast, including Long (“Galaxy Quest”) and Brandon Routh (the titular hero of “Superman Returns”), which adds to it an extra dose of amiability.
Whilst neither life-changing nor profound, “Zack and Miri…” is an easy way to spend an evening (although perhaps best avoided for those who question the view that pornography is an innocent business.)
