Review:

Back from the dead, Denny Colt, once a rookie cop, now known to all as The Spirit is out to stop his arch nemesis, The Octopus. This intimidatingly dressed villain plans to wipe out all of Central city, beloved by our hero, and will kill anyone who dares to cast eyes upon his face. The stunning femme fatale, Sand Saref and her seductive charm also poses a deadly threat with her influence and control over the underworld. And yet is there a link between this crime-lord and our rogue hero?

Based on the ever-popular DC comic, Frank Miller has done it again, bringing to life Will Eisner's classic characters. He astounds audiences once more with unique, artistic visuals often worthy of accolade. Though set in darkness, he takes a surprisingly comical take to the film, a change from his past successes of 300 and Sin City. He appeals to fans of the franchise especially by trying to include as many of the much-loved characters from the comic strip as possible.

Gabriel Macht gives an admirable performance as the protagonist, showing the right balance of emotion for his deceased father and cheeky charm for the ladies. This almost balances out the catalogue of beauties appearing in the film with the likes of Scarlett Johansson and Eva Mendes at the head. And that's not even mentioning Samuel L. Jackson who needs no introduction and is reason enough to gather a storm at the box office...

Definitely an eye-pleaser, in more ways than one...
