Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist
Nick (Cera) is a straight edge teenager from Hoboken, and the only straight member of his band, 'The Jerk Offs'. Depressed from being dumped by his conniving girlfriend, Tris, he desperately tries to win her back by mixing CDs with his own specially designed cover art. Tris throws all of these CDs away but her classmate, Norah (Dennings), appreciates the unique cover art and loves the music, so she fetches them out of the trash. Having never met Nick, she is happy to enjoy the work of her musical soul mate.
One night, they all end up at a club in Manhattan where 'The Jerk Offs' are playing. Nick is heartbroken to see Tris with another guy, and Norah decides to make Tris jealous by asking a random guy to be her boyfriend for five minutes. This random guy is Nick, and so begins their New York adventure as they go in search of their mutual favourite band 'Where’s Fluffy?' that could be playing anywhere.
Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist is an unconventional love story with an unusual premise, that comes together to produce a fantastically sweet teenage romance. With plenty of laugh out loud moments, a fast paced story and all the excitement of a movie set, and entirely filmed in New York, this film guarantees to provide an entertaining evening for all.
Michael Cera is perfectly cast for the role of Nick. He plays the timid teen we all know and love, and with which Cera is so well practiced from his previous roles in Superbad and Juno. Kat Dennings and Cera really complement each other to produce a truly believable performance.
If you’re after a good, entertaining film, with a great plot and characters you can relate to and believe in, then you really will love Nick and Norah.
