Eagle Eye
If you want to live you will obey
Returning from the funeral of his over-achieving twin brother, amiable slacker Jerry Shaw (Shia LaBeouf) finds his bank account inflated and his apartment filled with explosives, forged documents and an arsenal of weapons. When a phone call warns him the FBI are thirty seconds away from his apartment, Jerry panics and is apprehended by Agents Thomas Morgan (Billy Bob Thornton) and Zoe Perez (Rosario Dawson) who accuse him of everything short of the JFK assassination. However, the mysterious caller orchestrates his escape, placing him the path of single mum Rachel Holloman (Michelle Monaghan). Together they become entangled in a deadly game of cat and mouse…
Shia LaBeouf accomplishes his first ‘grown up’ performance with enthusiasm, Michelle Monaghan does her best to look bemused throughout but generates some nice chemistry with LaBeouf, and Billy Bob Thornton is brilliantly cast in the prickly ‘agent-on-the-cusp-of-retirement’ role. Eagle Eye is an action thriller pegged squarely in the vein of government conspiracy paranoia, yet it balances its potentially sober topical narrative with carefully orchestrated set-pieces and enough pace to keep the action coming thick and fast.
