Review:

Your wedding day: it’s the most perfect day of your life. But what happens when a meteorite from outer space crash lands just outside the church, turning the bride-to-be into a giant monster? Susan is taken underground to spend the rest of her life with only a handful of misfits for company. But all's not lost: with the help of Dr Cockroach, the jelly-like Bicarbonate Ostylezene Benzoate (B.O.B. for short) and the Missing Link, she attempts to reverse the growth process, in the hope of returning to both normal size and life.

Cue the landing of deranged alien Gallaxhar. He's come to take over the planet and take back the ‘quantonium’ from the meteorite. Only the monsters can save the day and are offered their freedom in return for fighting off the overlord. Will they succeed? Will Susan return to normal? Or will Earth have "Hail Gallaxhar!" forever more? Only a monstrous battle will decide.

Monsters vs Aliens is a beautifully crafted computer animation and has a top notch cast, especially Laurie as the wonderfully eccentric Dr Cockroach. From the directors that brought us Shrek and Shark Tale, this fun family film isn't quite a Pixar offering, but has all you could want from an easy-going film and is ooozing with laughs. Don't miss it!

Robert Gardner
