Review:

If you like food you will love Julie & Julia! Based on the memoirs of Julia Child, author of 'Mastering the Art of French Cooking' and her autobiography, Julie & Julia narrates the life of two women with one very important thing in common: a love of food.

Fed up with her unexciting life in the office, Julie Powell (Adams) sets herself the unusual goal of mastering all 524 recipes of Julia Child’s (Streep) cookbook in a single year and documents her experiences in a blog. In a small city apartment above a pizzeria, balancing cooking with work and a husband is no easy task.

Fifty years earlier, Julia Child is adjusting to life living in France where her husband (Tucci) is stationed by the government. Wanting to make the most of her stay, she takes on a cooking course and, despite getting off to a very rocky start, eventually reaches the top of her class. Constantly trying out recipes until they reach perfection and pursuing her ambition of producing a cookbook, Julia becomes a world famous chef, idolised especially by Julie.

Streep gives an excellent and highly entertaining performance as the dotty Julia Child. Deliciously funny and heart-warming, it was one of the most well-received films of the year. So, if you’re in the mood for some delicious (yet sadly onscreen) food, this is one film you definitely do not want to miss!
