Review:

CIA agent Evelina Salt (Jolie) has been accused of being a Russian spy. Now she must protect herself and her husband from her past allies while she goes on the run. Her years of training will be sorely tested as she tries to stay one step ahead of the organisation that she devoted her life to. But who is right in all this? Is she the victim or the criminal? Just who is Salt?

This is a fantastic, gripping new spy thriller to really get your teeth into. Audiences will not be disappointed by the gripping action sequences and extended chase scenes offered by director Philip Noyce. The script has been in development for a long time and has clearly been repeatedly rewritten and honed to perfection. No expense is spared on the drama and the well-picked cast includes Tomb Raider kick-ass Angelina Jolie and American Gangster’s Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Jolie has been missing from our screens for a while since her role in Wanted. Strangely enough, her part was originally written for Tom Cruise, but its safe to assume that he would look a little bit silly in all those tight outfits. Jolie has worked with Noyce before on the 1999 hit, The Bone Collector, a prior indication of the wonders that director and star can create together. Jolie reportedly went all out for this role, spending some time in training to allow her to do all her own stunts, which are all very pleasing to watch. For fans of modern spy thrillers, Salt definitely promises to be one that is seasoned to your taste.
