Review:

Following the success of The Hangover back in 2009, it’s hardly surprising that Stu (Helms), Phil (Cooper), Doug (Bartha) and Alan (Galifianakis) return to the big screen, this time with the marriage of not-really-a-doctor Stu imminent. Eager not to repeat the catastrophe of Doug’s stag night in Las Vegas, Stu holds a stag brunch in a diner (much to Phil’s dismay) before he and the rest of the wolfpack jet out to Thailand where his bride wishes to be wed in her home country amidst her friends and family. Despite the groom’s best intentions, however, “one quiet drink” next to a fire on the beach somehow ends with him, Phil and Alan waking up in a grim Bangkok apartment, accompanied by droll gangster Mr Chow, a monkey in a denim jacket and the finger of missing brother-in-law to be, Teddy. As the trio search for their lost companion, the events of the previous night unfold…

If you liked The Hangover it’s impossible to dislike its sequel. The “City of Sin” backdrop of Las Vegas is replaced by the even wilder Bangkok, allowing the three best friends to bump into Buddhist monks, transvestites and drug dealing primates as they attempt to recover from their latest bout of alcohol induced amnesia and locate Teddy. Though not exactly an imaginative follow up to its predecessor, The Hangover Part II still offers plenty of laughs and dares to throw even more light on bearded oddball Alan, played brilliantly by Zach Galifianakis.

A must see for fans of The Hangover, Part II is even more outrageous, with director Todd Phillips treating the audience to more of the same in his unmissable sequel that continues to reinvent the stag party comedy.
