Review:

In Happy Feet Two we return to the surprisingly hectic Antarctic tundra to be reunited with tap dancing penguin Mumble (Wood) and his significant other Gloria (Pink). They now have a son of their own in the form of Erik (Acres), who is reluctant to follow in his father’s footsteps as a dancer. Mumble is troubled by the introduction of flying penguin, The Mighty Sven (Azaria), who threatens to pilfer his son’s affection and admiration, but there are more pressing matters at hand as the penguin community faces its biggest threat yet…

Boasting an impressive cast, Happy Feet Two continues in very much the same vein as its predecessor with its impressive visuals and its buoyant soundtrack (provided by Pink) that will have you jigging in your seat in no time. As with Happy Feet, this movie does not hesitate to be a little dark at times, placing some of the adorable penguins in some pretty grim pickles and proving it's not your typical kids' movie. Similar to the saber-toothed squirrel of Ice Age, there is the introduction of characters Will the Krill (Pitt) and Bill the Krill (Damon) to provide comic relief. One advantage they have over their prehistoric counterpart is speech. The disadvantage they have is that they’re eating the faces of seals, not nuts.

Enjoyable animation with something for everyone, if you enjoyed Happy Feet, you’ll enjoy the sequel.

James Cook
