Review:

What do you actually know about Marilyn? Would you ever dare to look behind the stage to see what becomes of the legend in daily life?

Marilyn Monroe, in her early 30s, about 6 years before her mysterious death, is starring in a movie in London ('The Prince and The Showgirl' by Sir Laurence Olivier). Her attempts to become a great actress, the aura of her fame, unique reputation and beauty are opposed by the reality of everyday shooting, hard work of the renowned film crew and a great amount of problems, fights and challenges, more touching than funny.

You are to witness the beginning of the hardest period in Monroe's life - as documented by Colin Clark, a young student who works on the film together with the true stars of his time. He is absolutely enchanted by Marilyn, her feminine charm, the legend beyond her human existence. She is nervous, she drinks and takes pills, she is indecisive, somewhat depressed, unable to act. But isn't she a goddess after all? Michelle Williams has a long way to go, but there she is, so lifelike, tender, sweet, sexy and... lost. Just like Marilyn.

The documentary feeling of the film is impressive and well thought through, immersing you in the plot which despite a lack of complexity, is touchingly realistic. My week with Marilyn is definitely worth the big screen - as Ms Monroe herself has always been.
