This Means War

Foster (Pine) and Tuck (Hardy) are two CIA operatives who have been friends for years, yet that means nothing when they realise they are dating the same woman (Witherspoon). In order to win her heart the two must battle against one another in what will be an epic war of spy versus spy.

This Means War is every bit as fun as it sounds. With a spectacle of action, romance and comedy, it’s a perfect film to sit back and enjoy. From a director who knows how to flaunt mindless action (Charlie’s Angels 1 & 2), This Means War is far more stylish and enjoyable than anything he’s done before.

McG has scored a wonderful cast to make a rather trite story into something fantastically funny and entertaining. Veering away from more serious roles including Bronson, Ricki Tarr and (upcoming) Bane, Tom Hardy settles himself nicely into the rom-com/action character. A similarly burly actor, Chris Pine, plays Hardy’s best friend-turned-enemy; the two with as much great chemistry between them as with the love interest, Reese Witherspoon.

Whether you only allow yourself one guilty pleasure at the cinema from time to time, or if you’re a fan of the “pop-corn movie”, This Means War is the one to take a look at. It doesn’t take itself too seriously and it needn’t have to, the film is entertainment in every sense of the word.
