Review:

It’s undoubtedly one of – no, THE most anticipated movie of 2012, with a rumoured budget of $250 million. So it’s fair to say there’s a lot riding on Christopher Nolan to deliver more than ever before with this summer’s release of The Dark Knight Rises, the final chapter in what has been a phenomenal series of Batman movies – especially since fellow Hollywood comic book adaptation Avengers Assemble succeeded in turning up the competitive heat earlier this year, smashing countless Box-Office records.

However, I’m pleased to say that Batman fans across the globe (and no doubt Nolan himself) can heave a huge sigh of relief – because this final instalment of the trilogy doesn’t disappoint. By the conclusion of the previous film, viewers were left pondering an ambiguous future for the Dark Knight after he took responsibility for Two-Face’s crimes and was forced into exile from Gotham city. Eight years later and Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) finally dons the bat suit, becoming his alter ego once more, after a new terrorist called Bane threatens to destroy the city – but can Wayne succeed in stopping him now that Gotham’s citizens identify Batman as an enemy?

With an all-star cast, including (deep breath now) Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Morgan Freeman and Tom Hardy as the terrifying Bane, the calibre of this film’s acting line-up is unrivalled by any other. Expect plenty of first-class performances, unpredictable plot twists and daring action sequences, filmed using IMAX cameras in order to enhance their stunning, visual spectacle.

So whether you’ve seen it already, or missed out on the chance to watch it over summer, make sure you grab yourselves a seat (and keep holding tightly to the edge of it) for The Dark Knight Rises on the big screen at WSC – it’s definitely not to be missed.
