Review:

This action-packed sequel promises just as many edge-of-your-seat moments and tight spots for Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) to narrowly escape from, as in the first film. We follow Bryan, his daughter Kim (Maggie Grace), and his ex-wife Lenore (Famke Janssen) on a getaway to Istanbul. There they come across members of the Albanian human trafficking group that kidnapped Kim in the original film, and who are now intent on getting revenge on Bryan for killing some of their men. Lenore and Bryan are kidnapped, but Kim manages to escape. Now it is up to her, with the advice of her father, to rescue him, and for them both to save Lenore.

Taken 2 hasn’t been as well received by critics as the first one which is mainly because it is a very similar film. But why should that be a bad thing? Taken was fantastic and Taken 2 definitely deserves to follow on and live up to the franchise’s cult following!

And who doesn’t love the deep, threatening voice of Liam Neeson, promising to get revenge, before pulling out a hidden communication device from his sock, telling his daughter to throw a few grenades around, all whilst tied to a pole?

If I was kidnapped in some old European city, he would be who I would call.

Jennifer Billot
