Review:

Olympus Has Fallen is a tense, exciting action thriller, robustly directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day). Gerard Butler stars as a disgraced former presidential guard who must save the President after a guerilla assault on the White House (Secret Service Code “Olympus”).

When the President (Aaron Eckhart) and his feisty Defense Secretary (Melissa Leo) are kidnapped after an attack on the White House by a terrorist mastermind, Secret Service agent and ex-guard Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) is trapped within the building. Haunted by an accident from his past, it is left to Banning to prove himself and use his inside knowledge to retake the White House and save the President once again. With the help of those in the negotiation room (Morgan Freeman and Angela Basset) and with all guns blazing, Banning must reach the President in time, before the terrorists extract the necessary codes from their prisoners and gain control over America’s entire nuclear arsenal.

Although this film has received mixed reviews from critics, it is certainly a volatile and thrilling action movie filled with bullets, torture, and one-liners. With a strong performance from Gerard Butler, Olympus has Fallen is sure to be enjoyed by any action junkie.
