Review:

Based on the best-selling short story by James Thurber, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is certainly a story and figure we can relate to. Ben Stiller is almost unrecognisable in this role, and you can hardly believe he also directs this thoughtful and playful film (maintaining a constant respect for the source material), a far cry from Tropic Thunder and Reality Bites.

Walter Mitty is an everyday office worker for Life magazine who escapes the monotony of his life by day-dreaming of daring heroics, far-flung adventures and romance with fellow office worker Cheryl (Kristen Wiig). One article Mitty is working on rips him from his daydream and straight into the adventure, which becomes the real world. He must find the missing picture for the last issue of Life, and to do this he must go on a global quest, and so reconnect with the vibrancy of the world he has been missing.

Oscar winners Sean Penn and Shirley McLaine also make an appearance with their usual style, sure to make an impression in seconds, and this adds a nice layer to the film. The Production Design, Cinematography, and Visual Effects are sure to be up for award nominations and this adds visual perfection to an interesting plot with an ending you will be dying to know.
