Review:

Set over the course of one weekend, the film follows the desperate struggle of a young wife and mother, Sandra (Marion Cotillard), to reverse her factory colleagues’ decision to receive 1000 euro bonuses by making her redundant. Having only recently returned to work after recovering from depression, Sandra’s first impulse is to give up, but with the support of her husband, Manu (Fabrizio Rongione), she becomes determined to succeed. In order to reverse the decision, she needs to convince at least seven of her co-workers to change their minds, and she visits each of them personally to plead her case.

The Dardenne brothers once again direct a fantastic cinematic portrayal of one family’s struggle with the very real and current social and economic difficulties. Cotillard’s performance is emotional and poignant and will definitely leave you with some food for thought.
