Review:

Michael (Robert De Niro), Steven (John Savage) and Nick (Christopher Walken) are young factory workers from a small industrial town in Pennsylvania who enlist in the army and head off to fight in the Vietnam War.

This film is a classic – a study of character against the backdrop of Vietnam, which questions the participants of war as much as war itself. The actors deliver strong, powerful performances and, after witnessing their lives, you grow attached and can’t stomach the idea that anything may happen to them. Emotions run high for these people, and we see some of the most intense war scenes ever committed to film. It offers a sombre depiction of life, and will stay with you long after the credits roll.

Ultimately, The Deer Hunter is touching, poignant and a true cinematic masterpiece, and you’d be missing out if you didn’t come to see it.
