Review:

The McAllister family head off on their Christmas holiday to France, and accidentally leave 8-year-old Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) behind. Initially enjoying his time alone, he is called to action when he must defend his home from a pair of idiotic burglars (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern).

The film is a Christmas classic, being both funny and touching in equal measure – it was a phenomenal success, and it is arguably one of the greatest family films ever. Culkin, at his cutest, carries the film with his expressions and tricks, behaving as any child in his situation would. Stern and Pesci as the burglars are hilarious, playing it straight, delivering slapstick antics throughout the film and generating laughs aplenty. Home Alone is a warm, amusing film and it is well worth a watch – it has deservedly found its place in cinema history.
