Leviathan
Having built his own home in a Russian coastal town near the Barents Sea, Kolya resides in picturesque tranquility with his wife Lilya and son Roma. Disrupting their peaceful settlement is the corrupt mayor, Vadim Shelevyat, whose intentions to steal Kolya’s home, auto-repair shop and surrounding land dominate the film.
Resisting the corruption, Kolya denies a payoff and in turn decides to fight for his home and land against increased aggression from Vadim.
This stunning film has achieved high critical appraisal worldwide, winning Best Foreign Film at the Golden Globes and Best Screenplay at Cannes, as well as nominations for an Academy Award and a BAFTA.
With captivating performances from the whole cast, this film is definitely not one to miss.
