Review:

Adaline Bowman (Blake Lively) has remained a youthful 29 years of age for nearly eight decades following an accident, refusing to allow anyone to get close to her for fear that they would discover her secret. However, a chance encounter with philanthropist Ellis James (Michiel Hulsman) reawakens her passion for romance and her joy of life. After a weekend with Ellis’ parents threatens to reveal her secret, Adaline must make a decision about her eternal life that could change it forever. This is a touching drama that deals with themes such as solitude, mortality, life and love, but never allows them to intrude so heavily on the story that they render it depressing – indeed, this is a feel-good tale that will not fail to leave a smile on your face. The chemistry between the two leads to palpable, and they are supported by an incredible cast including Harrison Ford and Kathy Baker as Ellis’ parents and Ellen Burstyn as Adaline’s daughter. This film is engaging and wonderfully developed, and you’d have to have a heart of stone not to enjoy it.
