Tomorrowland
|
Inspired by one of the most iconic theme parks in history, Tomorrowland shares one crucial thing with its namesake: the giddy thrill of technology. Disney’s latest presents a gleaming and optimistic vision of the future with an enthusiasm that is all too seldom seen in modern films. Brought together through mysterious circumstances, wunderkind Casey (Britt Robertson) and lapsed genius Frank (George Clooney) find themselves working together to find the utopia of the film’s title. Working against them is Hugh Laurie’s Nix, a jaded inventor keen to keep the city’s secrets away from the rest of the world. With an A-list production team including Brad Bird, director of The Incredibles, and Damon Lindelof, creator of Lost, Tomorrowland deserves perhaps the highest praise that you can give a film. It takes the audience away from the cinema to somewhere entirely otherworldly.
