Review:

New mission. New fate. Think you know all about Terminators? Think you know the future? Think again… Machines gain sentience and quickly deem humanity a threat that needs to be wiped out. So starts a long and bloody war lasting for decades, until… The machines discover time travel and send back a Terminator to kill Sarah Connor, mother to John Connor, future leader of human resistance. The humans send back their own warrior, Kyle Reese, to protect Sarah Connor. Sounds familiar, except… When Kyle Rees (Jai Courtney – Jack Reacher) is sent back, everything has changed! A Terminator (good old Arnie) is already there and has been protecting Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke – Game of Thrones) for decades. Trained in combat, guns and strategy, and well aware of Skynet, Judgment Day and Kyle, this is not the woman he was expecting to meet… Though now they may be able to stop Judgment Day from happening entirely by stopping “Genisys”, a soon-to-be-released worldwide operating system that is really the precursor to Skynet! Emilia Clarke gives the performance you would expect from Game of Throne’s Daenerys Targaryen – strong, decisive and charming. Arnie, of course, is the definitive Terminator – not always grasping the intricacies of human interaction, but delivering some of the best one-liners in the film. Not to mention Matt Smith’s welcome cameo as Skynet/Genisys. A highly entertaining, yet still intellectually engaging, action sci-fi film. Well worth a view.
