Straight Outta Compton

Straight Outta Compton is a musical biopic that tells the true story of N.W.A, and 80s/90s hip-hop band from Compton in Los Angeles. The film focuses on the band’s members: Ice Cube (played by Ice Cube’s son O’Shea Jackson), Easy-E, Dr. Dre, MC Ren and DJ Yella, and shows how they used music as a weapon against authorities and their dangerous surroundings. Straight Outta Compton, although telling a true story with an ending that most fans of N.W.A would be aware of, grips any audience member regardless of their appreciation of the musical genre. The performances by the cast are all authentic, gritty and fuelled with the same fury and emotion that was shared by the actual members at the time. All of the narrative strands are engaging and promise very entertaining viewing.
