The Danish Girl
The Danish girl tells the heart wrenching story of a man (Einar Wegener) in Copenhagen in the 1920s who struggles with the fact that he feels he should have been born a woman.
When his loving wife asks him to pose a woman for one of her portraits, an alter ego names Lili is born. They go out together to have some fun but this new identity sends Einar wild. Something inside of him changes and he begins to struggle to reconcile the two worlds. His wife sees this and this causes heartache for both parties. However, soon coming to an understanding through love and support, Einar begins to let go of his old body and embrace Lili by undergoing one of the first gender reassignment surgeries ever done.
This is a moving story about accepting who you truly are which is truly poignant and unforgettable.
