Review:

Based on the brilliant novel, Room is about the imprisonment, escape and readjustment of a young woman and her five year old son Jack. Jack was born inside the room and knows nothing of the outside world. His mother 'Ma' keeps him entertained as long as she can so that he feels safe and does not realise the true horror he lives in. However, one day the chance comes for escape and Ma calls on Jack for his help.

However, freedom brings its own problems with it. Jack must learn how to live in the big wide world he never knew existed outside of 'room' whilst Ma struggles to re-enter the world and live with the nightmare she has endured

The film, much like the book, is both beautiful and tragic, combining a five year old's perspective with an adults to narrate this heroic tale, it's definitely one to watch

Lauren Howard
