Review:

Probably the most highly anticipated movie of recent years, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is finally here.

One of the most successful movie franchises of all time, the latest installment has a lot to live up to. When Disney announced its plan for a series of three new films, reactions amongst die-hard fans were mixed. Whilst many were positive about it, there was some concern that reviving the franchise again would just lead to another set of somewhat embarrassing films (Jar Jar Binks anyone?). But with J J Abrams at the helm and a stellar cast including Lupita Nyong’o, Oscar Isaac, Gwendoline Christie and some familiar faces, expectations went from high to sky-high.

Set 30 years after the original trilogy, a new threat emerges in the form of Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and his army of Stormtroopers. Newcomers Daisy Ridley and John Boyega give fantastic performances as Rey and Fin, moving the franchise firmly into new territory, whilst still honoring the original series. Expect mind-blowing battle scenes, stunning special effects and lightsabers aplenty.
