Review:

Originally under the title The Cellar, 10 Cloverfield Lane is described by producer J.J. Abrams as “a blood relative” to the 2008 blockbuster success, Cloverfield. Mary Elizabeth Winstead stars as Michelle, a young woman who after getting into a car accident, wakes up in an underground bunker with two strangers: Howard (John Goodman) and Emmett (John Gallagher Jr.). Goodman’s character claims that some apocalyptic event has occurred, destroying the world above and preventing the trio from leaving the bunker. Throughout the film, the audience along with Michelle, are kept wondering what horrifying event has happened: The Cloverfield monster attack? A nuclear strike? Or perhaps, is this just a fantasy concocted by Goodman? 10 Cloverfield Lane focuses on the relationships between Michelle, Howard and Emmett as they learn to live together in the enclosed space. This psychological thriller constantly walks the line between certainty and uncertainty as the trio try to unravel each other’s motives.
