Everybody Wants Some!!

Offering you that nostalgic feel-good feeling, Everybody Wants Some is an American comedy set in 80’s Texas. It tells the story of Jake (Blake Jenner), a sports jock starting his first year of college and the usual amusing antics which you can imagine teenagers in the 1980’s got up to; drugs, alcohol, and the endless pursuit of girls. There’s also Finnegan (Glen Powell), Roper (Ryan Guzman), Dale (Quinton Johnson), and Plummer (Temple Baker) who star as Jake’s infamous baseball teammates. They’re all warned by their coach not to drink alcohol in their student house and not to bring girls home or host any wild parties…. Cue the loud rock 80s music and the freshers party! Jake quickly meets Beverly (Zoey Deutch) who is attracted to his unassuming manner next to his cringingly obvious team mates. It’s a sweet classic tale of two people who randomly meet and begin to fall for one another but before everything gets too mushy, you get to enjoy the efforts of Jake’s teammates gate-crashing the theatre students costume party and trying their best to pick up ‘artsy’ women. This film pays tribute to an ever-romanticised era through every detail of the film from clothes and haircuts to cars and the music. It’s not a deep coming-of-age film by any means but if you’re looking for a happy, feel-good about student life kind of film, Everybody Wants Some is hard to beat.
