Allied
|
It is 1942. Casablanca. A Canadian intelligence officer Max Vatan (Brad Pitt) teams up with the glamourous female French Resistance fighter Marianne Beauséjour (Marion Cotillard) on a deadly mission behind enemy lines to assassinate the German Ambassador. Having succeeded the two return to London to get married and live together. However, their relationship is threatened by the discovery of a secret in Mariannes past which jeapordises their love for one another. What follows is a desperate attempt by Max to prove his wife’s innocence so that his superiors do not take the situation into their own hands with potentially devastating consequences. Allied is a thoroughly entertaining film which shows just how far one will go to protect the ones that you love no matter the consequences, no matter the costs. It is a film which unfortunately does not leave much to the imagination in terms of plot and if you are a fan of trying to predict the ending of a film it does not really provide any crumbs for you to follow. However, it is good fun and, in places, quite intense and even for those sensitive souls quite sad at the end. A good, solid film which is not at all taxing to watch and really keeps you on the edge of your seat.
