American Made
The sky is never the limit.
Tom Cruise is at his charismatic best in American Made, the true story of CIA pilot Barry Seal. When Seal is hired by the CIA from his boring job at TWA airlines to take intelligence photographs over Central America, he jumps at the chance. But ferrying guns, people and information for the CIA isn’t enough and Seal soon becomes embroiled in the plans of the Medellín Cartel, helping them to smuggle cocaine in and out of America. Becoming “the gringo that always delivers” for the cartel, Seal’s life spirals into one of the most unbelievable real-life tales of money and crime since The Wolf of Wall Street.
In a story that proves that real life is always stranger than fiction, director Doug Limon (The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow) gives an insightful look into one of the most insane covert operations of the 80s, with his signature fun editing and styling. American Made isn’t just the straight-forward action-comedy it was marketed as, and has plenty of surprises in both style and content.
This movie is fun throughout and, just like its central character, is fast-paced and totally crazy.
