Review:

Four desperate strangers agree to risk their lives transporting highly unstable and volatile nitro-glycerin 200 miles through South American jungle. If they make it, they’ll earn enough to buy themselves a new life. But if the cargo shakes too much, it’ll explode, taking truck, driver and much of the surrounding area with it! (Cargo and drivers are even split across two trucks just to make sure at least some explosives will reach their destination.) Time is against them, and it seems like the jungle is too: trees are blown into their path; signs washed away; landslides…

Sorcerer used on-location shooting in 5 countries, on 3 continents and took over 2 years to film… but was worth the wait! There are many moments which will have you on the edge of your seat. The scene when they’re trying to drive a ramshackle truck over the ricketiest bridge you have ever seen is utterly riveting. There are also some really beautiful and haunting shots when the pressure becomes too much for some…

This is a forgotten gem by William Friedkin, the Academy Award winning director of The Exorcist, and will have you gripped from its opening scene.
