Review:

Miguel loves music! For most people this wouldn’t be a problem, but after heartbreak from a musician long ago in his family’s past, a love of music is strictly forbidden. Having learnt to play the guitar in secret, he yearns to be a real musician just like his hero, Ernesto de la Cruz.

On Dia de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead), a sacred day to remember loved ones who have passed away, a music competition is taking place, and he will finally get his chance to play infront of a crowd… but his family want him home with them. When his family find out, his grandmother destroys his guitar, and Miguel runs away to the competition. Lacking an instrument, he steals one from the museum of his idol but, due to the magic of Dia de los Muertos, he is transported to the Land of the Dead. And he must find a way return before sunrise, or be trapped there forever…

Disney and Pixar work together to create another original and authentic masterpiece, and show us an afterlife bursting with charm and absolutely alive with colour. An adventure that strikes the perfect balance between warming your heart and tickling your funny bone, yet still manages to tug on your heartstrings a few times along the way.
