Review:

The insane true story that shocked the world!

Loud, volatile, uncouth, and raised by an alcoholic single mother, Tonya Harding (Margot Robbie &ndash Suicide Squad, Wolf of Wall Street), is not exactly one of the demure princesses that dominate competitive ice-skating. She has the wrong look, the wrong attitude, but boy, can she skate!

Tonya makes a name for herself with moves such as the triple-axel jump, which few Olympic competitors even dared to attempt! But with her atypical background, and her on-again/off-again marriage constantly making headlines with rumours of domestic violence, Tonya is not getting all the medals she deserves… And it’s really frustrating her!

Just like Tonya, this film defies convention and is told from a number of perspectives, leaving you to make your own conclusions about her involvement in the infamous attack on fellow Olympian, Nancy Kerrigan. Margot Robbie has a powerhouse performance as Tonya, telling the ugly and unvarnished truth (according to her). Allison Janney (West Wing) won an Academy Award, BAFTA and Golden Globe for her supporting role as Tonya’s vitriolic mother, and rightly so. This is a high-octane darkly funny biopic, and absolutely captivating from start-to-finish.
