Review:

Blockbusters don’t get much bigger than this!

It’s 10 years after the war against the Kaiju (giant monsters which emerged from the sea and tried to take over the world), and the world has moved on, but not for everyone. Jake (the son of General Pentecost from the original Pacific Rim), has been making a living selling scrap, and has left the Jaeger Academy and giant fighting robots far behind. Or so he thinks… After multiple arrests, his sister forces him to rejoin the academy. (Almost as if she knows somehow that a new war with the Kaiju is just on the horizon...)

Don’t worry if you’ve never seen the original… There’s a handy recap at the beginning. With a more focussed plot than the original, this still has all the humour and shamelessly fun action sequences of the first. John Boyega headlines and displays the same easy-going charisma and commanding screen presence that he has as Finn in all the recent Star Wars films.

A gloriously fun way to start your weekend.
