Review:

Welcome to the OASIS. An online virtual world where you can do anything, be anyone, without going anywhere - the limits of reality are your own imagination! James Halliday, its creator, died years ago, but left three keys that unlock an Easter Egg. The first one to find it wins Halliday’s vast fortune, control of the OASIS, and so… the world!

Essential to finding this egg is a knowledge of 1980's pop culture: enter our hero, Parzival (Tye Sheridan – X-Men: Apocalypse), an obsessive gamer and pop culture fanatic, who’s one of the few Egghunters left. The others of note are Nolan Sorrento (Ben Mendelsohn – Rogue One), Head of Operations at Innovation Online Industries, desperate to win control of the OASIS to sell ad space to the highest bidders; and Art3mis, a fellow gamer that Wade’s never met in the real world, but is totally falling for…

The visual effects are absolutely mesmerising, and you truly feel that imagination has been unleashed, unrestrained by the laws of physics, to create one stunning vision after another. Everywhere you look, are pop culture references: Star Wars, King Kong, Flash, Jurassic Park, Mechazilla, numerous John Hughes movies, Back to the Future, Monty Python, the list goes on… even a whole scene from The Shining! It’s absolute non-stop entertainment from start-to-finish. Are you ready?
