Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again
Fast forward five years from Mamma Mia! and sadly Donna has passed away. Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) has been working so hard to make her mother’s vision for the hotel a reality in time for the grand opening as ‘The Hotel Bella Donna’. Busying herself with last-minute preparation, she reflects on what Donna was going through at her age, including meeting all Sophie’s fathers for the first time as she made her way to the sun-drenched island of Kalokairi…
This film is everything you love from Mamma Mia! Yet somehow, it is jam-packed with even more of your favourite ABBA songs, as poignant parts of characters’ lives seamlessly segue into flamboyant and impressively choreographed dance routines, drawing on whatever objects just happen to be lying around…
All the cast return from the original to reprise their roles, and as a young Sam (Pierce Brosnan), Jeremy Irvine perfectly captures Sam's inflections and intonations. Donna is played by the delightful Lily James (Cinderella), and is just as winsome as you’d imagine young Donna to be. You’re also treated to cameos from Celia Imrie, Omid Dhajili, Cher, Andy Garcia, and, if you look closely, Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus from ABBA! (Thank you for the music!)
