In an anthill that is home to millions of inhabitants, worker ant Z-4195 (Allen) strives to reconcile his own individuality with the communal work-ethic of the colony. He accidentally meets beautiful Princess Bala (Stone), who has a similar problem on the other end of the social scale.
In order to meet her again, Z switches places with his soldier friend Weaver (Stallone) - inadvertantly becoming a war hero following a disasterous military campaign against a neighbouring termite nest. In so doing he unwittingly crosses the sinister plans of the evil General Mandible (Hackman), who plans to take over the colony by eliminating the workers. Unaware of Mandible's treacherous schemings, Z persuades Bala to leave the colony behind and join him in his quest for Insectopia, an ant paradise where the streets are paved with food.
Antz is a surprising dark tale destined to whizz right over the head of the average six-year-old, and utlilises ultramodern animation techniques to create a breathtaking view of the insect world.
