Review:

For many years, Lorraine and Ed Warren (Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson – The Conjuring) have been consultants in demonology and witchcraft, performing exorcisms and freeing people terrorised by demons or malevolent spirits that no priests will touch. In their line of work, they have amassed a large collection of objects that are haunted, cursed or have been used in ritualistic practices. Far too dangerous to be allowed out in the world, they keep these all safely locked away. Especially, Annabelle, contained in a prison of sacred glass, which should keep her evil contained.

However, when the couple has to go away for the weekend, they leave their daughter Judy (Mckenna Grace – Captain Marvel) in the capable hands of babysitter, Mary (Madison Iseman – Jumanji 2). While Mary has no interest in the room packed to the rafters with supernatural artefacts, her friend can’t stay away. Against all Judy’s warnings that it’s not safe for anyone to be in the attic, or touch anything, one of the most dangerous items in there - the doll Annabelle - is unleashed, along with many other evil spirits…

Supplying scare after scare, and with some new twists to deliver the shivers, this is a fine debut from the screenwriter of the first two Annabelle films, Gary Dauberman.
