Judy
Judy Garland: the legend behind the rainbow
The year is 1969 and an ageing and exhausted Judy Garland arrives in London for a string of sold-out concerts at The Talk of The Town, forcing her to leave her children behind whilst she also fights a custody battle with her ex-husband.
It’s impossible to capture an entire life in two hours, let alone that of somebody with such a storied one at that; Judy, however, does a mightily impressive job of capturing just a slice of it and will stay with you for a long time. Zellweger not only looks the part, but her performance is haunting in how uncannily it captures Garland in all her characteristic vulnerability – yet defiance – during her final years. Look for a Best Actress nomination at the Oscars for sure!
