Gunpowder Milkshake
Sam (Karen Gillan) is an elite assassin working for the organisation who took her in after her mother left. She’s sent by her boss (Paul Giamatti) on a routine job — retrieve stolen money, and shoot the accountant that dared to steal it. However, things get a little complicated when she discovers that the accountant’s daughter is kidnapped, and following her orders will mean an innocent 8-year-old dies…
Now with a target painted on her back, the only chance she has of surviving this night is to reunite with her mother (also an elite assassin) and her lethal associates, and take on a ruthless crime syndicate out for blood…
Supported by a fine cast of Michelle Yeoh, Carlo Gugino, and Angela Bassett delivering one-liners in style, Gunpowder Milkshake draws inspiration from the likes of John Wick and Kill Bill. Sets such as the neon-drenched 1950’s-style diner, and the antique-looking library, add touches of whimsy and keep the tone light. (The books that conceal a number of weapons throw knowing winks to the audience.) Despite being in slo-mo the final fight scene leaves you constantly moving your eyes so you don’t miss any of the action, or the unleashed fury. Sheer entertainment!
