Review:

Stigmata is the story of Frankie Paige (Patricia Arquette), a Pittsburgh Hairdresser who becomes afflicted with the wounds Christ bared on the cross.

Andrew Kiernan (Gabriel Bryne) is a biochemist turned priest turned religious phenomena inspector for the Catholic church.

When Cardinal Houseman (Jonathan Pryce) assigns him Frankie's case he's reluctant at first, but becomes interested when Frankie begins to speak and write Aramaic, the language of Christ.

His investigation is riddled with questions as he is torn between helping Frankie and revealing the discovery of a long-lost Gospel that would spell disaster for the future of the Catholic church.

The one thing that really stood out while watching this movie was the chemistry between Arquette and Bryne. Their attraction is so believable it left me wondering if Arquette's long time husband Nicholas Cage had anything to worry about.

The movie also has some very funny moments which the audience really enjoyed. The graphic depictions of Stigmata combined with the soundtrack will nail you to your seat.

Some people have been shocked in the USA, that stigmata has been charged with blasphemy.

It will scare the hell into you. Pray you are not the next
